Extract from "Review of new recordings" from The Reel magazine of the London Branch of the Royal Scottish Dance Society by John Laurie.

The longwise dances are (with the exception of Posties Jig) for five couple sets and played 10 times through; those marked* have a full encore.

Vol 1 is culled from two records...The Cavendish Band was led by Andy Bathgate on clarinet, with four fiddles, accordion (Bobby Crowe) and a rhythm section....The playing is exceedingly lively and there is a very good selection of tunes. I haven't had time to count them but there must be over one hundred

The first five dances on Vol 2 by the Black Watch were originally issued on record.....I assumed it would be a Pipe Band but it is not. The instruments consist of accordion, trumpet, flute/piccolo and a rhythm section. They make a refreshing change from the "norm".....The remaining twelve tracks on Vol 2 were recorded last autumn by Frank Reid with two accordions, fiddle, piano and drums. I can assure you that they are in no way remaining!

This is perhaps Frank's best ever recording; the more I listen the more I love it.
